Final Fantasy IX Fanfiction:

Just A Boy:

"Just A Boy" was written again for a character shrine, this time Vivi from FFIX. (If you want to see who this and "Lady Starlight" were written for, look for the girl that crops up towards the end of this.) Originally, the story served the conceit of introducing a concept that in hindsight was, actually, pretty lame; my use of the character Eric Alfredsson as a recurring character much as Cid is. It's up to you whether or not that was sheer stupidity on my part or overwhelming ego. There are some nice bits here and there, and some hints of a broader concept that I was working towards with my FFIX fics, but where FFVII and FFVIII stayed with me for some time, less than three months after playing it, I was disinterested in it, and only this and the next story were written.

Candlelight Fantasia:

This story was, yet again, written for a character shrine, namely Beatrix. I honestly neither loved nor hated Beatrix, but I was asked nicely and figured if nothing else I could tie it into the overriding arc I meant to write. Looking back on it, this one might be, oddly enough, my favorite piece of fanfiction I wrote; there's so many little things about it, so many details both of the world of FFIX and of the characters, especially Beatrix, who I think I did a good job of fleshing out and studying as a character. It was also criticized for the title, which simply was a Symphony X song I was really liking at the time and used as a title when I knew candlelight was going to be the recurring visual motif. Apparently I used "fantasia" wrong. Something about this story must have stuck, as I am planning on using the villain of the piece in an upcoming original work.
