Kindred Spirits:

"Kindred Spirits" was the first fan fiction that I ever saw "published", so to speak, the prologue and the first two parts appearing on a friend's Quistis Trepe shrine in March to May 2000. The shrine closed before all of it went up, and the webmistress, Maggie (not the one most of you from #Unreal know, for the record) actually went into music sites before disappearing from my knowledge around the summer of 2001, I believe. At any rate, "Kindred Spirits" was written when I was highly influenced by, of all things, Dragonball Z (No! Don't run away! It's not that BAD a story!), though it went in far more unusual directions than that by the end. It is worth noting that I submitted each chapter to Maggie as soon as I proof read it for typos and such, so everything here is a first draft. In fact, that led me to making a glaring continuity error in the story that I didn't catch until I'd already posted most of the story on Fanfiction.net; see if you can spot it. For all the warts I see in it, I'm proud of the fact that I managed to come up with an ending that works for this; I actually wrote this story with absolutely no plot at all, and made it up as I went!

Dreaming Of Summer:

"Dreaming Of Summer" is basically an extended epilogue to "Kindred Spirits", and is notable mainly for the fact that it caused me to start writing under my own name. I wrote my earliest work as "Eric A.", taking the name from the hero of these two stories, Eric Alfredsson. I stopped because I was accused of pulling a Mary-Sue, Marty-Stu, whatever it was, with Eric, when the truth was it was the other way around. But I doubt anyone believed that. This is a harmless bit of fluff, really, but I liked it well enough.
